Nairobi, October 21---The 4th edition of Tusker Project Fame musical talent search academy kicked off early this month with a gala show bringing together music lovers, sponsors and contestants. Millions of viewers all over Eastern African are following the show on television, Facebook and Twitter. This year’s 15 aspirants must prove themselves to the judges with the winner walking away Sh5 million cash prize and a recording deal with Gallo records of South Africa.
Once again San Valencia Restaurants and Corporate caterers are a co-sponsor of the Tusker project Fame and is providing all catering services at the academy.
During the opening gala show Kenyan Steven’s electrifying performance elicited positive comments from the judges, with Judge Ian admitting that he, “…could certainly stir up a crowd.”
Also fighting for their lives, were the Ugandans, Davis and Brenda. This was not Davis’ first time at TPF, having been sent home by Judge Ian at last year’s gala show. He poured his soul into his cover of Ronan Keating’s “When you say nothing at all” and was overjoyed when the judges admitted him into the Academy.
Brenda’s performance of Brandy’s “Come a little closer” took her further away from the judges’ expectations, with Juliana pointing out that she has seen better performances from Brendah.
The very beautiful Liz of Rwanda and Cynthia of Tanzania also saw their dreams crushed when they failed to meet the judges’ high expectations. Amileena of Kenya, Elizabeth of Rwanda and Leah of Tanzania were also able to join Steven, Davis and the other contestants in the Academy.
Romani of Southern Sudan was recalled back home for civic duty and his replacement was Southern Sudan’s first runners up from the Top 25. Kuonck Deng couldn’t hide his excitement at having been offered the opportunity to join the TPF Academy. This year Southern Sudan is represented by two contestants, Paleki Obur and Kuonck Deng.
Kenya has four representatives with Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda each having three contestants.
The Faculty will guide the contestants for the next eight weeks with a new principal, Helen Mtawali.

The other members of the Faculty include, voice coach Kavutha, Music Director R Kay, Choreographer and fitness coach Edu. This year also sees the addition of Band leader Aaron Rimbui to this stellar cast.
Viewers can tune into the daily shows to see the Top 15 contestants receiving tips on technique from the Faculty and coping with the pressure of living in seclusion for the next eight weeks.
